Lynchburg Rail Day 2012
{Saturday} August 11, 2012
Radio Change in the Area
Attention scanner users! Have you wondered why you no
longer hear trains and dispatchers talking on the former N&W
in the Lynchburg and Altavista area? Theres a good reason
for that. After years and years of being on AAR Channel 71,
161.190, the former N&W between Crewe and Roanoke now uses
AAR Channel 62, 161.025! So, program this frequency into
your scanner and you will be back in business again. It is
thought that the frequency change was made in preparation
for the FCC-mandated change to narrow-band radio which needs
to be in place by 2013.
